Hello everyone,

We begin this week in the aftermath of Saturday’s Aries Full Moon.

Throughout September, we’ve talked about finding some breathing room — enough space to look again at old conversations, beliefs, relationships, and decisions without immediately deciding what they mean or what we need to do about them.

This week, we may need that breathing room more than ever.

Something gets your attention. Someone says exactly the wrong thing. An old feeling resurfaces. Or you suddenly recognize why something has bothered you for so long.

The button being pushed this week is information.

Before you react, notice the button.

What’s Underneath That Reaction?

Mercury moves into Scorpio this week, joining Venus there.

Scorpio wants to know what’s underneath the surface. So instead of stopping at That made me angry or That hurt my feelings, we can go a little deeper.

Why did it affect me this strongly?

What does this remind me of?

Have I felt this way before?

This is about understanding what our feelings are telling us. And sometimes that takes a little time.

You Don’t Have to Answer Yet

Venus is slowing down and preparing to turn retrograde on October 3. She’s doing her version of Michael Jackson Moonwalk, appearing to move backwards in the sky.

That tells me some of what comes up this week isn’t going to be resolved immediately. We’re beginning a much longer review of relationships, values, self-worth, and the emotional ties we have with other people.

So, if something happens and you don’t know what to do about it yet, give yourself some room.

You don’t have to send the text.

You don’t have to make the decision.

You don’t have to explain yourself while you’re still trying to understand what you feel.

Sometimes the wisest response is simply, I need some time with this.

Our Community Is Going Deeper Too

Mercury moves across the top of our Community Chart this week and meets our Scorpio Sun.

That puts communication right at the center of who we are becoming as a Community.

Scorpio isn’t interested in the polite answer simply because it keeps everything comfortable. Scorpio wants us to look beneath the first reaction and recognize what’s actually happening.

And with Mars and Pluto adding pressure this week, emotions can have some muscle behind them.

That makes our breathing room important.

Someone else may know exactly how to push your buttons, but they don’t get to decide what you do next.

That part belongs to you.

The Full Moon showed us something.

This week, we give ourselves enough time to understand what we saw before deciding what we want to do about it. That means instead of reacting, we are choosing how we want to respond.

This Week’s Tarot Card: Ace of Winter

I had to laugh when I drew the Ace of Winter this week. The Winter cards in this deck correspond with the Air suit — our thoughts, ideas, and communication — and I was hoping an Air card would show up.

Throughout September, we’ve been talking about finding breathing room. Now I think we’re beginning to understand why.

Breathing room leads to review.

The Ace of Winter tells us to trust what we’re beginning to see and to communicate clearly. That fits beautifully with Mercury moving into Scorpio this week.

But I don’t think this card means we have to know exactly what to do yet.

Sometimes the first breakthrough is simply recognizing, Oh. Now I see what’s really going on here.

That may be enough for now.

Notice what gets your attention. Listen to what your reaction is telling you. Then give yourself enough breathing room to understand it before you respond.

A Note from Faye

Once again, I feel like I’ve been living the astrology before I sat down to write about it.

August and September brought some major changes in my family relationships. Some were painful. Others were beautiful.

In August, I received a text from a close family member that pushed some very tender buttons. Instead of responding immediately, I waited. I needed time to understand what I was feeling and decide what I actually wanted to say.

Then, on September 4, another member of my immediate family called me after years of distance between us. They apologized without making excuses and told me that they wanted to make things right.

That pushed some buttons too — but very different ones.

Love and forgiveness.

I usually think of someone “pushing my buttons” as something negative, but maybe that isn’t always true. Sometimes something reaches a place inside us that reminds us how deeply we love others.

A week later, I wrote letters to five dearly loved family members and mailed them with their birthday cards. Four of them are adults now, and I was honest about wanting a relationship that travels in both directions. I haven't had that with them for a very long time.

And now I wait.

I don’t know whether I’ll hear from them. I knew when I mailed those letters that I was opening myself to the possibility of disappointment.

That’s part of my review right now.

October 1st is the birthday of the "text sender." They’ll be 46. And no matter what our relationship looks like today, that birthday takes me back to the day they were born.

That was back when parents couldn’t find out whether their babies were boys or girls, and the family wanted a little girl so badly. When they said, “It’s a girl,” our hearts leapt.

Forty-six years contain a lot of life.

So, as we move from September’s breathing room into October’s season of review, I’m realizing that my review isn’t only about what happened recently. I’m looking at a lifetime of loving.

I wasn’t perfect. I made mistakes. But I loved them, and I tried very hard to help them create a good life.

Now, the outcome is out of my hands.

Maybe that’s part of learning to respond instead of react.

I can say what I need to say with love. I can leave the door open.

And then I have to give the other person the freedom to decide whether they want to walk through that door. And if they don't, I can accept that. They get to choose.

Breathing room leads to review.

Apparently, October and I already have a lot to talk about.

I hope this reading gives you some breathing room for your own review.
