Breathing Room
Last week, in The Eclipse Made Me Do It, I said that I thought I needed one week off.
Apparently, I need a little more than that. 😊
August gave me a lot to sit with.

Eclipse season has a way of doing that. Things surface and conversations happen. The truth is harder to ignore. Sometimes a door closes. Sometimes a door opens. And sometimes you simply realize you can’t keep responding to an old situation in the same old way.
August stirred things up. And now, September gives us some space to look at what happened.
Space to breathe.
To clear our minds.
To let the dust settle long enough to understand what we’ve learned.
And already, just a few days into September, I can see why I needed that space.
Over the past few weeks, I’ve had two very different experiences involving relationships I have cherished for decades with people I love very much.
One of those relationships has been strained for years.
There has been hurt, misunderstanding, and a pattern that I finally realized I could no longer keep participating in the same way.
That realization has also meant accepting some painful distance from other people I love who are connected to that relationship.
It hasn’t been easy.
But the breathing room has helped me understand that sometimes love means staying close. And sometimes love means stepping back.
Then, completely unexpectedly, another relationship moved in the opposite direction.
This has always been a loving relationship, but circumstances created distance over the years. That distance also meant losing much of the connection I once had with other members of the family who are very important to me.
And then, out of nowhere, I received one of the most sincere apologies I have ever been given.
There were no excuses. No blame. No attempt to rewrite the past.
Just honesty, responsibility, love, and a genuine desire to change what had happened.
And with that came reconciliation.
So here I am in September, holding two very different experiences in the same heart.
In one relationship, love is telling me to step back.
In another, love is opening the door wide.
That may be the biggest thing this month is teaching me.
Breathing room isn’t necessarily about withdrawing from everything.
Sometimes it simply gives us enough space to understand where we need distance and where we can move closer.
We see what we’re ready to continue and what we’re ready to change, what we’re finally ready to release.
On September 10, under the Virgo New Moon, both of these stories will reach an important turning point in my life within minutes of each other.
I didn’t plan it that way.
I couldn’t have planned it.
The Universe, my Higher Self, my Spirit Guides, and whoever else has been here offering support simply arranged it that way.
And I think I need a little more time to sit with all of it.
So, I’m taking another week away from the next chapter of my story.
I’m not disappearing.
I’m just breathing.
And maybe September is giving all of us permission to do a little more of that.
I would love to hear your story. If you feel like sharing, you can email me at contact@thehealingriver.net.
